Get to Know the Coach
Hi Everyone,
I am Steve McGrail and live in Wyoming. I grew up in Wyoming one block from the ball diamonds.  Needless to say many hours were spent playing baseball. I have played my entire life and think it is the greatest sport that challenges both the mind and body.  There is always something to learn and can be the greatest and most humbling sport.

I teach at Lambton Centennial School in Petrolia and I am in my 20th year of teaching. While there, I have coached Cross Country, Soccer, Basketball, volleyball, Track and Field, Two Pitch, Ultimate Frisbee and hockey.

I am married to Lisa and have a son named Jace and a dog named Murphy.

In the winter I am kept busy coaching AAA hockey for the Lambton Sting organization.  I also volunteer as a regional representative for Children's Hospital of London, a Member of the Lambton Central-Petrolia optimist Club, organizer of the Petrolia Terry Fox Run, and an executive member on Wyoming Minor Ball.

My favourite MLB team is the Toronto Blue Jays (but will watch any team and any game) but my favourite player to watch and follow is Canadian Joey Votto of the Cincinatti Reds.

In baseball over the years I have 7 OBA titles under my belt. Four as a player Tyke 1985, Midget 1988, Juvenile 1993, Senior 1996 and 3 as a coach; Bantam 2001, Rookie Ball 2014, Mosquito 2016.

After my minor ball days were over, I attended McMaster University in Hamilton and was a member of the first McMaster University Baseball Team and part of the organizing committee that created a league for Canadian College and University baseball teams to play in which now flourishes from coast to coast.  In my university years we made it to the League final and lost to a strong McGill team.  I was fortunate to be named a Canadian Allstar at 2nd Base and was named the defensive player of the year.

After returning home, I continued to play Senior Ball in Wyoming and helped coach the team before moving into a full time coaching role. Since then, many years have been spent coaching kids baseball right from Instructional right on up to Bantam.

Baseball is my passion and the sport that gets me excited every time I go on the field.

I look forward to sharing my knowledge with the kids and having fun each and every time we come to the diamond. There is nothing I would rather be doing on Labour Day Weekend than bringing another OBA title home to Wyoming.

Wrangler Up!  Let's Play Ball.

See you on the field.
Coach Steve
